Privacy and Personal Data Violation

WeChat is committed to safeguarding the personal data of our users, and we prohibit any conduct which undermines or may undermine the security of our users’ personal data or any rights in relation to such data. We prohibit collecting, requesting, publishing, buying/selling, or threatening to disclose non-public personal data about anyone. This includes “doxxing” (exposing or aggregating identifying details), distributing hacked or leaked data, and using our services to obtain or verify private information.

Exposing private data creates immediate risks of stalking, identity theft, harassment, and real-world harm. By removing doxxing, leaks, and the trading or coercive use of personal data we protect users’ safety and dignity and uphold our duty of care.

Sharing of personal data without consent

We do not allow content that shares or solicits the following personal data without the express consent of the data subject:

a) personally identifiable information (e.g. personal identity cards or identification numbers, driving licences or licence plates and passwords, pins or codes to access private information); or

b) other private information (e.g. addresses, email addresses and phone numbers, except when shared or solicited to promote charitable causes, find missing people, animals or objects, or contact business service providers).

If you discover that your personal information has been revealed on the WeChat platform without your consent, you may wish to first directly contact the responsible user to request for that user to remove such information. Additionally, you may report this to us and we will take appropriate actions against the user in accordance with these Community Guidelines and the WeChat Privacy Policy.

We do not allow the following behavior:

a) sharing or circulating hacked databases, stolen credentials, or leaked private communications;

b) posting links to dark web dumps, forums, or services that trade in stolen data.
