Nudity or Sexual Content
WeChat prohibits all forms of nudity and sexual content on the WeChat platform. In particular, WeChat takes a strict stance against non-consensual intimate image abuse (e.g. revenge porn) and nudity or sexual content relating to or depicting children or underage minors.
Nudity
- You may not upload, share, publish, transmit, stream or otherwise make available on or through the WeChat platform any content that is pornographic or sexually explicit, including any content containing the following (whether relating to adults or minors):
a) pornography;
b) depicting sexual or erotic acts, behavior, or language;
c) genitals;
d) sexual arousal;
e) fetishes for sexual gratification;
f) nudity; or
g) something similar to any of the above.
- Examples of prohibited nudity or sexual content include:
a) direct exposure and depiction of genitals;
b) sexual acts, sexual descriptions, descriptions of sexual methods or language with sexual innuendo and sexual teasing;
c) descriptions of sex or teaching of sexual skills;
d) fictional content which violates moral values or relates to incestuous conduct;
e) sexual descriptions or sexually suggestive language;
f) erotic animation;
g) sexual abuse; and
h) sale of pornographic materials.
Offering or requesting for compensated sexual activity
- You may not upload, share, publish, transmit, stream or otherwise make available on or through the the WeChat platform any content that offers or asks for the following in exchange for any form of compensation:
a) sexual services, such as requesting, offering, or asking for rates for escort service and paid sexual services;
b) sex or sexual partners (including partners who share fetish or sexual interests);
c) sex chat or conversations; or
d) nude photos, videos, imagery, or sexual fetish items.
Non-consensual sharing of private sexual content
- You are not allowed to upload, share, publish, transmit, stream or otherwise make available on or through the WeChat platform any content with the purpose of coercing for money, sexual or non-sexual favours, or private sexual content from others by threatening to expose their private sexual content (including in the form of videos, pictures or other imagery) if they fail to comply with such requests.
- You may not upload, share, publish, transmit, stream or otherwise make available on or through the WeChat platform any private sexual content that fulfills all of the following conditions:
a) the sexual content is non-commercial or produced in a private setting;
b) the person(s) depicted in the sexual content is fully or partially nude or is engaging in sexual activity or in a sexual pose; and
c) there is a lack of consent to share the sexual content.
- If you are a victim of non-consensual sharing of private sexual content, or believe that your private sexual content may have been shared without your consent, we encourage you to seek help using the following resources:
a) resources and support provided by StopNCII.org; and
b) organizations in the country or region in which you are located and from which you may seek help.
Child sexual content
- You may not upload, share, publish, transmit, stream or otherwise make available on or through the WeChat platform any content that threatens, depicts, praises, supports, provides instructions for, makes statements of intent, admits to participation in or shares links of the sexual exploitation of children, including but not limited to:
a) child nudity;
b) sexual activities involving children;
c) children with sexual elements, such as the presence of sex toys, sexualized costumes, stripping, or open-mouth kissing;
d) content of children in a sexual fetish context;
e) content that supports or encourages participation in paedophilia;
f) content that identifies or mocks alleged victims or child sexual exploitation;
g) content that solicits child sexual abuse material, nude imagery of children, sexualized imagery of children, or real-world sexual encounters with children;
h) content that constitutes inappropriate interactions with children, such as engaging in sexual conversations with children, purposefully exposing children to sexually explicit language or sexual material, or requesting sexual material from children;
i) content that attempts to exploit children by extracting or obtaining money, sexual or non-sexual favors, or private sexual content from children, by coercion or threatening to expose their private sexual content or other private information; and
j) content that attempts to exploit children by sharing, threatening, or stating an intent to share private sexual conversations or sexual images with children.
k) content that depicts child sexual abuse in forms such as, but not limited to, computer-generated imagery (CGI), cartoons, drawings, animations, manga, and other non-photographic imagery of child sexual abuse.
- If you are a victim of child pornography, or suspect that any others may be a victim of child pornography, we encourage you to use the following resources to find out more about how to seek further assistance:
a) the Internet Watch Foundation’s international reporting portals; and
b) find a local reporting hotline to report such child pornography or any other sexual abuse material.
Exceptions
- We may, at our sole discretion, allow exceptions for the following content, provided that there is sufficient evidence or context showing that such content is not of a sexual nature:
a) female genitals in the context of birth giving and after-birth moments;
b) female nipples in the context of breast feeding, birth giving and after-birth moments;
c) male or female genitals, female nipples or other body parts displayed in the context of medical or health situations (e.g. health examination, disease prevention or assessment, breast cancer awareness etc); and
d) works of art, depicted in a non-sexual context (e.g. sculptures of Venus di Milo and David etc).
